Screening strategy for Cervical Cancer
A PAP smear is taken at the age of 20 and then every secon year thereafter (opportunistic screening). Since 2006 nationwide screening is introduced. HPV-typing is not regular.

Strategy for colposcopy training
Yearly attendees at colposcopic course of the first category (residents, gynecologists). Practical training courses annually at OB/GYN Clinic of Tartu University Hospital, Courses are certified by the National Society.


Institutions to deal with Abnormal Screening-Results
Screening smear is performed by routine-gynecologists. The goal of the colposcopic training programme is to ensure that these gynecologists are able to take an adaquate smear and to deal adaquatly with the result. Patients with abnormal screeening results are sent for consultation in the University Hospital.
